Paper trading crypto — free, with no sign-up
Paper trading crypto means placing real-looking trades with virtual money, so you can learn how orders, fees and leverage behave before any of your own money is involved. Paperex is a free crypto trading simulator you can use with no login: no account, no email and no deposit. You open the page and you are already trading.
What is paper trading?
The name comes from the days when people wrote imaginary trades down on paper and checked later how they would have done. A simulator does the same thing, only live. You see real market prices, you send buy and sell orders, and the simulator fills them and keeps your balance. The only difference from a real exchange is that the money is not real.
That makes paper trading useful for three things:
- Learning the mechanics. What a limit order does, why a market order can fill at a worse price, how the order book moves.
- Testing an idea. You can run a strategy for a few weeks and look at the result, instead of guessing.
- Trying leverage safely. Futures with leverage are where beginners lose money fastest. On a simulator a liquidation costs you nothing except the lesson.
No login, no email, no deposit
Many practice modes ask you to create an account first, and some exchange demos only open after an identity check. Paperex skips all of that. When you open it, a demo account is created automatically and funded with virtual USDT. Your balance and orders are kept, so you can come back later and continue. If you run low, the Top up button adds more virtual funds.
Because nothing is connected to your identity or a wallet, there is nothing to lose and nothing to leak. The first trade is one click away.
What makes a crypto simulator realistic
Many simulators simply record a trade at the last price shown on the chart. That is easier to build, but it hides the parts that matter most when real money is involved. Paperex runs every order through a real matching engine:
- An actual order book. Buy and sell orders rest in the book and are matched by price, then by time, the same rule real exchanges use. See how an order book works.
- Live prices. Market data is streamed from a public exchange feed, so the book follows the real market second by second.
- Partial fills and slippage. A large market order walks through several price levels and fills at an average price, not at the number on the screen.
- Fees. Each fill pays a 0.05% trading fee, so strategies that trade very often show their real cost.
- Leverage futures with liquidation. Open long or short positions with leverage, and watch the liquidation price just like on a real derivatives exchange.
What paper trading cannot teach you
A simulator is honest about prices and mechanics, but it cannot recreate the feeling of losing your own money. Most people trade more carefully with virtual funds and less carefully with real ones. Keep that in mind when you read your results. A strategy that works on paper is a good start, not a guarantee.
A simple first practice plan
- Read How to use Paperex (two minutes) and place one limit order and one market order on
BTC/USDT. - Watch where your limit order sits in the order book. It shows a
MYmarker. Notice how the price must reach your level before it fills. - Open a small futures position at 1x–5x leverage and write down its liquidation price. Then check how far the market would have to move to reach it.
- After a week, open the Assets panel and compare your result with simply holding the coin.
