Die-cut

The term “die-cutting” can be applied to a variety of cutting processes, but is generally applies to the cutting out of shapes from soft or semisoft materials in single or multiple layers.

The process itself is similar to a cookie-cutter cutting out a specific pattern from cookie dough. In the same way, a pattern tool is used to cut out a pattern from the chosen material.

The advantages of this process is speed, accuracy, large volume production and optimal use of the material.
